Equine assisted Reiki in North Norfolk
Step away from the fast-paced world into a slower, intentional space of deep self-care and emotional regulation. These unique one-hour sessions blend the gentle energy practice of Usui Reiki with guided compassion healing.

Why equine assisted Reiki?
Hosted at the wholesome, family-run North Norfolk Riding Centre in Little Walsingham, this nature-based sanctuary offers the perfect environment to unwind, reset, and recharge — whether you are a seasoned rider or simply want to be around horses more. Here, the ponies and horses are valued as true partners, teachers, and sentient beings, sharing their yard with ducks, chickens, and wild birds in a peaceful, thriving community.
Horses are highly perceptive, socially sensitive animals that seem to respond naturally to human emotional and physical states. Many people describe a powerful sense of connection and calm when they stand with a settled horse, and early research is beginning to explore the physiological connection between horses and people. In my experience, time in their presence helps the breathing deepen and the nervous system move out of alert and into rest. The equine assisted Reiki I offer is a unique experience that has not yet been established through clinical research.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, holistic wellbeing practice and Japanese energy practice that can be received in person or through distant healing. The word comes from the Japanese rei (universal) and ki (life energy), referring to the natural energy believed to flow through all living beings.
Horses seem to help us co-regulate: a settled, at-ease horse gives our own body something to match, so the breathing deepens and the system moves out of alert into rest. That is how I have come to understand and plan around it, rather than a settled scientific finding, but clients describe it often enough that I take it seriously. Because equines are highly empathetic, they help hold a space of peace and open-hearted compassion.
What to expect during your 60-minute session
The beginning (exploration) — we open a friendly, welcoming space to discuss what Reiki is and is not, and gently explore where you find yourself getting stuck when it comes to self-compassion. You will choose some oracle cards to help guide intentions.
Middle — a guided self-compassion meditation practice designed around your unique personal experience while spending time standing with the horse or pony chosen for your session. Using Reiki practices, I will encourage the flow of energy and support the body’s natural ability to restore. You will either sit or lay down in a comfortable position, and the horse or pony present will remain in its tied position.
End — we take time to feedback and plan together how you can build on your experience going forward, and you will choose oracle cards to guide continued intentions beyond the session. You will be emailed a copy of the inner qualities of compassion handout.

A note on the evidence
The quiet presence of the horses may help you feel calmer and more grounded, and early research is beginning to explore the physiological connection between horses and people. The equine assisted Reiki I offer is a unique experience that has not yet been established through clinical research. The chakra work and the oracle cards belong to the session’s spiritual and reflective approach.
Reiki is a wellbeing practice, not a medical or psychological treatment, and it doesn’t replace care from your GP or therapist. If you are looking for psychological therapy, I offer CBT separately — in person in Holt or online across the UK. The two are kept as distinct sessions.
